Sankashti Chaturthi special of Magh month

Chintaman Ganesh’s priest Pandit Shankar Guru said that among the 12 Sankashti Chaturthi of the year, Sankashti Chaturthi of Magh month is considered special. On this day, offering ’tilkutta’ made of jaggery and spleen to God has special significance. This time Tilakutta Chaturthi is coming on 29th January. The doors of the temple will open at 4 am on this day. After this, Chintaman Ganesh will be given Panchamrit Abhishek and special makeup will be done in his full form. Aarti will be performed by offering dishes made from sesame seeds to the Lord. The darshan will continue from 6 am to 11 pm. Attractive decorations will be done in the temple on special festivals.

Maha Aarti of Bade Ganesh will be held at 9.16 pm

The grand festival of installation of Bade Ganesha will be celebrated on Maghi Sankashti Chaturthi at Shri Bade Ganesh Temple located in front of the northern gate of Mahakal Temple. Almanac maker and astrologer Pandit Anand Shankar Vyas said that Panchamrit Abhishek worship of Lord Bade Ganesha will be done in the morning. After this the Lord will be specially adorned with new clothes and silver jewellery. During the day, Vedapathi Batuk of the ashram will recite Ganapati Atharvashirsha and Aditya Hridayastrota in the spirit of national welfare and public welfare.

According to Pt. Vyas, Lord Shri Ram had recited Aditya Hridayastrota to conquer Lanka. Recitation of this stotra is believed to liberate one from all obstacles and achieve victory. Bade Ganesha is the worshipable deity of the Republic, hence on Sankashti Chaturthi, this recitation is definitely done to overcome the obstacles in the progress and development of the country. After moonrise at 9.16 pm, Aarti will be performed by offering laddus to the Lord.

A festival will be held in the courtyard of Avighna Vinayak.

Near Shri Panch Ramanandiya Khaki Akhara at Khakchowk, there is a temple of Shri Avighna Vinayak, one of the Shadvinayaks of Ujjaini. It is believed that when Lord Shri Ram came to Avantika during his exile, he had established it for the destruction of obstacles. Priest Pt. Ashwin Shukla told that on Tilakutta Chaturthi, the Lord will be consecrated and adorned with attractive makeup. Aarti will be performed by offering Mahabhog of two quintals of gram flour, one quintal of jaggery, Tilli laddu and one quintal of Nukti to the Lord. Mahaprasad will be distributed to the devotees.

Poverty goes away by offering Tilkutta

Astrologer Pt. Amar Dabbawala told that one should keep a fast on Sankashti Chaturthi of Magh month and worship Lord Ganesha and Chauth Mata duly. After moonrise at night, offer Arghya to Moon God and worship him. After this the fast should be broken. Tilkutta made from jaggery and spleen is very dear to Lord Ganesha. It is believed that by offering Tilakutta to Lord Ganesha on this day, he gets pleased and provides happiness and prosperity to the devotees by eliminating their financial troubles. Offering Til Kutta removes poverty and brings economic progress and wealth.
