When Nitish made the impossible possible by helping Lalu

In this book, Lalu Yadav wrote that after the death of Karpoori Thakur, when I staked claim for the post of leader of the opposition, Nitish Kumar was also among the leaders who supported me. Lalu writes that Nitish became more wavering with time. First he was with me and then he separated. He supported me so I am indebted to him. Let us tell you that there was a period of friendship between Nitish and Lalu from 1974 to 1994. Both the leaders joined the movement during the Emergency period along with Jai Prakash Narayan. In 1990, Janata Dal emerged as the largest party in Bihar with 122 seats. Nitish Kumar was also with Lalu in this victory. In fact, during the 1990s, it was decided that the one who would become the leader of the opposition would also become the Chief Minister. In such a situation, Lalu had his eyes on the CM’s chair. He wanted to become the leader of opposition at any cost. But Nitish Kumar helped him and made the impossible possible.

Why was the distance created?

After Mandal reservation, caste polarization took over the politics of Bihar. Due to this, Lalu Yadav became stronger with time. Lalu Yadav was accused of neglecting his colleagues. From George Fernandes to Nitish Kumar separated from Janata Dal. In 1994, Nitish formed Samata Party. But his move was not successful.
