Raipur (Naiduniya representative).On Monday, Tikrapara police caught a courier boy who had reached Bhathagaon bus terminal to buy ganja from Koraput, Odisha and take it to Akola, Maharashtra. On search, 21 kg 300 grams of ganja packed in five different packets was found in the possession of the accused. Police have claimed that the value of the seized ganja was more than Rs 2 lakh.

This courier boy, resident of Akola, was asked for whom and for how long he has been working. Police suspect that the accused had already purchased ganja from Odisha and taken it to Maharashtra via train or passenger bus via Raipur. However, during interrogation, the courier boy confessed to delivering ganja for the first time just out of greed for Rs 10,000.

Tikrapara police station in-charge Durgesh Raote said that as part of the continuous action against drugs, the police team had received information from the informer on Monday that a young man was carrying a white plastic sack with him near the motorcycle parking of Bhathagaon New Inter-State Bus Terminal. A passenger is waiting for the bus to go somewhere after keeping the ganja.

This information was given to ASP West Jai Prakash Carpenter, CSP Purani Basti Rajesh Chaudhary and other officers. After this, the police station officer himself reached the spot with his team. The young man of the description described by the informer was identified and nabbed.

On enquiry, he revealed his name as Mujahid Majeed father Abdul (34), native of ward number six, Mosinpura post, Hiwarkheda post, near Bhavani temple, Hiwarkhed tehsil, Telhara district, Akola (Maharashtra). When the police team searched the plastic bag kept with him, Ganja was found in five packets.

In this case, an offense under the Narcotics Act was registered against the accused and he was interrogated in detail. In this action, along with the station in-charge, Assistant Sub Inspector Jayanarayan Yadav, Neelmani Sahu, constable Ashwan Sahu, Ravindra Rajput, Arun Dhruv, Sunil Pathak, Shiv Kumar Tandi were involved.
