Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Sunday welcomed Janata Dal-United (JDU) president Nitish Kumar’s decision to join the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), calling it ‘better late than never’. The Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment said Kumar took the right decision at the right time to be a part of the NDA. Earlier in the day, Kumar resigned as Chief Minister of Bihar, saying ‘things were not working well’ for him in the Grand Alliance and the opposition alliance ‘Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance’ (India). In the evening, Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record ninth time. He has formed a new government with the support of BJP.

Athawale told reporters, “We had told Nitish ji not to go with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad because he will not treat you well. But better late than never… I had told him to join (Narendra) Modi ji… Now he has taken the right decision, so I am thanking him.” The Union Minister claimed that the opposition alliance It has been a big shock due to Kumar’s departure. Athawale said, “Narendra Modi will become Prime Minister in the year 2024 also. No person can stop Narendra Modi’s ‘development chariot’ and we all are sitting on it.” Republican Party of India (A) President Athawale also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra’.

He said, “When Congress was in power for 70 years, why didn’t Rahul Gandhi’s party unite the country?” The Constitution is already uniting the country. Narendra Modi is here to do this. Gandhi should travel to unify the Congress.” Referring to Gandhi’s defeat in the Amethi constituency of Uttar Pradesh in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Athawale said the Congress leader should be worried about his party. He said that the opposition alliance ‘India’ no longer has any strength left. He said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Kejriwal have already decided not to share seats with the Congress in states ruled by their parties. Trinamool Congress is ruling Bengal, while AAP is ruling Delhi and Punjab.

Athawale accused Rahul’s close aide Sam Pitroda of ‘supporting’ Sudheendra Kulkarni’s views and demanded an apology from the Congress for the same. Athawale alleged that Pitroda had supported Kulkarni’s view that Jawaharlal Nehru’s contribution to the drafting of the Constitution was greater than that of Bhim Rao Ambedkar. The Union Minister said that Pitroda did this at the behest of Congress. Earlier on Saturday, BJP leaders had shared a screenshot of a now-deleted post by Indian Overseas Congress chief Pitroda on ‘X’ in which he had shared an article by Kulkarni on the issue and asked the Congress leadership whether they also support such ‘anti-Ambedkar’ views.

Athawale claimed that NDA will get more than 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He said, “I had once said that Modi ji will come in 2029, 2034, 2039 and 2044. There is no scope for others till 2044. I am with Modi ji, who built many memorials of Dr. Ambedkar.” The Union Minister thanked Modi for making Mohan Yadav, who comes from the Other Backward Class (OBC) community, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Expressing happiness over the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla at the newly constructed Ram temple in Ayodhya, he said that according to the evidence found by the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) presented in the Supreme Court, the Mughals destroyed the old temple to build a mosque 500 years ago. Was destroyed.

Athawale said Congress leaders should have attended the event as they were invited by the Ram Mandir Trust and it was a non-political event. On the question of selection of new Chief Minister in place of Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Madhya Pradesh, Athawale said that Chouhan remained the Chief Minister for a long time and a new OBC leader was given a chance. He said that Chauhan will now contest the Lok Sabha elections and become a Union Minister.
