Pratik Sangwan, who comes from a middle class family of Haryana, has brought glory to the country by getting a scholarship of Rs 2 crore from the University of England. Prateek Sangwan, a resident of village Pichoupa Khurd of Charkhi Dadri, will do research on the situation of water crisis created due to continuous falling of water level in the sand dunes. After seeing with his own eyes and seeing the problems faced by his ancestors due to water crisis, he resolved to overcome the water crisis with modern technology.

Opportunity to do PhD from abroad, got scholarship of Rs 2 crore
Due to his hard work of about eight years, Prateek Sangwan has got the opportunity to do PhD in the prestigious New York University of England. Prateek Sangwan has received a scholarship of Rs 2 crore from the Natural Environment Research Council of the UK Government. Now he will do research on foreign soil for the water crisis in North India including Haryana. The family and villagers celebrated the son’s achievement and wished for a bright future.

Who is Pratik Sangwan?
Prateek Sangwan, who received a scholarship of Rs 2 crore from New York University, is a resident of Pichaupa Khurd village of Charkhi Dadri. He completed his schooling from Sainik School Kunjpura. He holds a master’s degree in Water Policy and Governance from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Prateek has now got admission in PhD in the prestigious University of York in England. Has received a scholarship of Rs 2 crore from the Natural Environment Research Council of the Government of England.

Pratik selected from 300 candidates from all over the world
300 candidates from all over the world had applied for this scholarship, in which the icons of India have been successful. Currently Prateek Kumar works with an organization named Well Labs, which is an organization dedicated to research in natural resource management and agricultural livelihoods. Prior to this, Prateek Kumar has worked with the Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Haryana, where he was actively involved in implementing water conservation programmes.

What is Prateek’s plan to deal with the water crisis?
Prateek told that the main objective of his research will be to find a solution to the deepening water crisis in Haryana and Northern India. This research will find ways to provide complete irrigation management for farmers by adapting the world’s most advanced technologies to local conditions.

Father is a teacher in a government school
From the very beginning, his mother has played an important role in providing better education to Prateek. Prateek’s father Surendra Singh is a teacher in a government school. Expressing pride in Prateek’s success, he said that seeing his son going on this educational journey from the village to a foreign country is like a dream come true. Mother Rajbala and uncle Satbir Singh also expressed happiness over their son’s achievement and said that Prateek has made his name famous in the world.
