Zero electricity bill by installing solar panels, money will be recovered

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that those who invest money in buying solar panels under this policy, that money will be recovered within four years. The government has made provision for many subsidies under this policy. For example, if a consumer in a residential area is using 360 units of electricity, then he comes in the slab of 201 to 401 units and his electricity bill is coming to half.

How will installing solar panels save money?

If a consumer installs a two kilowatt roof top solar panel, he will have to spend a total of Rs 90 thousand to install it. After this, the electricity bill of that consumer will start coming to zero and he will start saving Rs 1370 every month. Apart from this, Delhi government will give generation based incentive of Rs 700 every month. With this, that consumer will start earning additional income of Rs 700 every month.

By combining both, that consumer will save about Rs 2000 every month. In this way, Rs 24 thousand will be saved in a year and investment of Rs 90 thousand will be recovered within 4 years. Solar panels last at least 25 years. Therefore, after installing solar panels, electricity will remain free for 25 years.

Solar panels will have to be installed on the roofs of all government buildings within three years of the implementation of the policy.

Target of Delhi Solar Policy

Additionally, Delhi’s total installed solar capacity is to be tripled from the current capacity of 1,500 MW to 4,500 MW by March 2027. By 2027, about 20 percent of Delhi’s electricity consumption will come from solar energy, which will be the highest in India.
