  2. The rate of cow wood is also Rs 900 per quintal.
  3. The last rites are performed in two and a half quintal cow ash.

Bhopal News: Navdunia Representative, Bhopal. Every year thousands of lush green trees are cut in the name of development. On the other hand, wood is traditionally used for cremating dead bodies in crematoriums. Three quintals of wood is used to cremate one dead body. Thus, on an average one tree is sacrificed for a funeral. The ill effects of continuous decrease in greenery have also started coming to light. The temperature is continuously increasing. The average rainfall has also started decreasing. Realizing this seriously, the capital’s oldest Chhola Vishram Ghat has started using cow ash for cremation from the year 2018. Apart from this, there is also the facility of electric crematorium.

Shri Vishram Ghat Committee Trust operates three Vishram Ghats in the capital at Chhola, Subhash Nagar and Chandbad. Of these, Chhola Vishram Ghat has been made a completely environment friendly cremation ground. Here the dead body is cremated with cow dung (wood prepared from cow dung). Electric crematorium is also available here as an alternative. In the year 2020, 6500 saplings have been planted here using Miyawaki system, which have now started becoming trees. Trust Secretary Pramod Modi Chugh says that about three quintals of wood is used in the last rites of a dead body. A plant becomes an adult tree in about 15 years. There are three quintals of wood in it. In this way, hundreds of trees are being saved from being cut every year by using cow wood. On an average, six dead bodies arrive here every day for cremation. This is the first cremation ground in the state with such a facility.

The last rites are performed in two and a half quintal cow ash.

Shobhraj Sukhwani, manager of Shri Vishram Ghat Committee Trust, says that three quintals of wood is required to cremate one dead body. Which is available at the rate of Rs 900 per quintal. The rate of cow ash is also Rs 900 per quintal, but the process of cremation of a dead body is completed in just two and a half quintals of cow ash. Some conscious people have also started using cow wood for last rites in Subhash Nagar Vishram Ghat.
