The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday issued summons to Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra in the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) case. The ED had asked her to appear for questioning on March 28 (Thursday), but the TMC leader said she would campaign in Krishnanagar constituency on Thursday.

Speaking to the media, Mahua Moitra said, “I will go to Krishnanagar constituency to campaign in the afternoon.” Let us tell you that even before this the central agency had called the 49-year-old TMC leader twice for questioning, but she did not appear before the investigating agency citing her work. During this time he had also demanded postponement of the notice.

ED on Wednesday issued summons to Mahua Moitra and Dubai businessman Darshan Hiranandani for questioning in the FEMA case. Both of them were called to Delhi on 28th March i.e. today. Mahua was expelled from the Lok Sabha in December last year due to his unethical conduct, but TMC has fielded him as its candidate from Krishnanagar constituency.

BJP MP had filed a complaint against Mahua Moitra

It is noteworthy that BJP leader Nishikant Dubey had also filed a complaint against Mahua Moitra in Lokpal. He had accused the TMC MP of taking money in exchange for asking questions in Parliament. He had also accused Moitra of playing with national security for financial gain. The CBI had started a preliminary investigation after the Lokpal filed a complaint against the TMC leader.

what is the matter

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra is accused of asking questions in Parliament at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey had filed a complaint against him. He had claimed that this evidence was provided by lawyer Jai Ananth Dehadrai.

In his letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Dubey had said that he had received a letter from lawyer and Mahua’s former friend Jai Ananth, in which he had raised questions about the exchange of bribes between Moitra and well-known business tycoon Darshan Hiranandani. Evidence has been shared. Based on this, it was concluded that about 50 of the total 61 questions asked by Moitra in Parliament were to protect the business interests of Darshan Hiranandani and his company.
