Sonography Permission for Private Doctors: Navdunia State Bureau, Bhopal. Doctors with MBBS degree from private institutions will not be allowed to do sonography after six months of training. Currently, this system is only for government doctors. There was a proposal to extend it to private doctors also, which was rejected in the meeting of the Supervisory Board of Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PCPNDT) on Thursday.

It was also decided that trained regular serving doctors will be allowed to perform sonography only in government institutions after passing the prescribed examination. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister of Public Health and Medical Education Department, Rajendra Shukla. An action plan will also be made to install sonography machines in community health centers (CHCs).

In the meeting, Rajendra Shukla said that the center operators should not be renewed if the F form containing the woman’s information is not uploaded in the software during sonography. Make arrangements to inform all radiologists, gynecologists and sonologists about the penal provisions of the PCPNDT Act. Instructions have been given to create public awareness regarding the Mukhbir Scheme to stop gender selection activities in the state. In this, a cash reward is given to the person giving information about gender selection.

Iris scan option instead of biometrics

It was decided in the meeting that alternative teams should be formed to mandatorily monitor the registered sonography institutes in the state by the District Inspection and Monitoring Committee (DMIC). For senior radiologists/sonologists and such doctors, for whom Form-F is not being uploaded due to lack of fingerprint verification from Aadhaar, the option of iris scan as an alternative biometric should be given on the PCPNDT portal.
