Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra has now left for Rajasthan from Madhya Pradesh. After getting free time from the journey, the senior leaders of the state have started finalizing the names of the candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. At present, an important meeting of the Central Election Committee is going to be held by the Congress on Thursday. It is being speculated that after this meeting the much awaited list of Congress will be released. In this meeting, a decision may be taken to make senior leaders of Madhya Pradesh contest the Lok Sabha elections on the lines of Chhattisgarh. If the election committee of Congress approves it, then along with Digvijay Singh, big faces like Kamal Nath, Nakul Nath, Kantilal Bhuria, Arun Yadav, Bala Bachchan, Sajjan Singh Verma, Phool Singh Baraiya, Tarun Bhanot will be seen contesting the Lok Sabha elections.
Three leaders from Madhya Pradesh will attend the Central Election Committee meeting of Congress to be held on Thursday. In this, screening committee chairperson Rajni Patil along with state in-charge Bhanwar Jitendra Singh, Madhya Pradesh Congress state president Jitu Patwari, leader of opposition Umang Singhar and CEC member Omkar Singh Markam will be included. In this meeting, the names of candidates from the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Lakshadweep, Delhi, Rajasthan and North East will be discussed. Congress sources say that after the CEC meeting, candidates can be announced for 10 to 15 seats in Madhya Pradesh. In the first list, names can be declared for Chhindwara, Betul, Rajgarh, Balaghat, Jhabua, Guna, Dhar, Dewas, Sidhi Lok Sabha seats. Congress’ list may come even before the code of conduct is implemented. It is expected that the first list of Congress will come on 8 or 9 March.
Congress will bet on big leaders on these seats in MP
Congress sources say that in Chhattisgarh, an agreement has been reached to field many former ministers of Chhattisgarh government including former CM Bhupesh Baghel, former Deputy CM TS Singh Deo in the Lok Sabha elections. The names of these leaders will be announced in the CEC meeting. Like Chhattisgarh, the Congress leadership can give instructions to senior leaders of Madhya Pradesh to contest the Lok Sabha elections. Congress Screening Committee Chairperson Rajni Patil has said that it is our desire that all senior leaders contest the Lok Sabha elections.
