Holi festival will be celebrated with great enthusiasm as per the royal tradition at 9.30 pm on Thursday night at Shri Ramraja Temple of the religious city. On the second day, on March 29, there will be Mangala Aarti of Shri Ramraja Sarkar in the temple at 5 am. On Thursday, on the occasion of Holi Teej, a traditional Holi festival will be organized at Ramraja Temple Orchha. According to the tradition going on since ancient times, Ramraja Sarkar will come out of the sanctum sanctorum and sit in the square to play Holi with the devotees. A large number of devotees have started reaching Orchha to celebrate Holi with God. On this occasion, along with Bundeli Phags, groups from nearby rural areas will also perform bhajan kirtan in the temple premises. To see this amazing sight, a large number of domestic and foreign tourists from entire Bundelkhand will be present at Ramraja Temple. Holi Mahotsav program will start from 9.30 pm on Thursday night. Groups of Faguars will make the festival memorable by singing Bundeli songs in the temple premises till late night.

On Holi Teej, big brass drums will be filled with colors and abeer in the courtyard of the temple and Holi will be played by pouring colors and gulal on Shriramraja Sarkar and the devotees using silver water cannons. First of all, the temple priest Ramakant Sharan Maharaj will start the Holi festival by showering colors on Ramlala with a pichkari. After this, devotees coming from far and wide will play Holi by throwing colors on Ramlala and applying Abir Gulal on each other. On Holi Mahotsav, Ram Sabha will be organized near Vanvasi Ram Temple inside the temple premises.

Mangala Aarti will be held on March 29 at 5 am.

Like every year, devotees have started reaching Orchha a day in advance to participate in the Mangala Aarti of Shri Ramraja Sarkar. A large number of devotees are likely to reach the temple to witness the Mangala Aarti held twice a year. The head priest of the temple, Sriramakant Sharan Maharaj told that participating in the Mangala Aarti of the government gives special results. Any living being who participates in this Mangala Aarti gets the virtuous result of donating 501 cows. Tight security arrangements will be made around the temple during the Mangala Aarti, which happens only twice a year, on major occasions like Chaitra Shukla Tenth and Holi Chauth, the holy occasion of Shri Ram’s birth. After the Aarti, Prasad will be distributed to the devotees. The temple premises have been attractively decorated for the Holi festival.
