External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has completed his visit to three Asian countries. His journey started on 23rd March. The main objective of this visit was to deepen bilateral relations between Asian countries and to prepare a table for negotiations to resolve regional issues.

During his two-day visit on March 27-28, the External Affairs Minister paid a courtesy call on Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar bin Ibrahim and also congratulated him on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He praised Prime Minister Ibrahim’s role in deepening relations and strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Malaysia.

During his visit, Jaishankar also met Foreign Minister Utama Haji Mohammed bin Haji Hassan. The two leaders discussed a wide range of bilateral issues including politics, trade, economy, defence, culture and education.

Along with this, both of them exchanged their views on many topics prevailing at local and international level. After this the Foreign Minister also met Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

S Jaishankar said, now my tour of Malaysia is over. During this I met Digital Minister Gobind Singh Dev. During this, digital cooperation including exploring business opportunities was discussed between us.

During the visit, the External Affairs Minister held a roundtable meeting with industrialists and interacted with members of the Indian diaspora in the country. He praised his contribution to India-Malaysia relations.

At the same time, while addressing the Indian diaspora, the Foreign Minister also took China to task for maintaining many issues with India for a long time. Along with this, he also described the deployment of soldiers on the India-China border as normal.

In the Philippines, he addressed a press conference in Manila along with Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, expressing India’s firm support following China’s aggressive action against Filipino naval vessels in the South China Sea.

Along with this, he called upon all countries to comply with the United Nations General Assembly’s Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and Manalo discussed common interests in ensuring maritime security. Given that both countries contribute greatly to the global shipping industry.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar also met Philippines President Bonabong Marcos, who praised the Indian Navy and the government for India’s prompt and decisive action in rescuing Filipino sailors after they were attacked by Houthi rebels in the Gulf of Aden this month.

During his visit to Singapore from 23-25 ​​March, the External Affairs Minister held several bilateral meetings with the Cabinet leadership and senior ministers.

He also met Singapore’s Indian-origin Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, with whom he exchanged views on the Indo-Pacific and West Asia.
