In Maharashtra, the matter regarding seat sharing is not being resolved in the state level opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi. On the other hand, voices of dissatisfaction have also started being raised from the ruling coalition Mahayuti. Bharatiya Janata Party has given ticket to Navneet Rana from Amravati seat, against which a former Shiv Sena minister has opened a front.

It seems that everything is not going well in the Mahayuti alliance. On Wednesday, BJP released the seventh list of Lok Sabha candidates. Navneet Rana has been given ticket from Amravati in this list. Before this she was an independent MP. A former Shiv Sena minister opposed Navneet Rana and said on her candidature from BJP that he did not know but she was joining the ‘well of death’.

‘Navneet Rana is joining the well of death’

Anandrao Adsul, who is part of the Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena, is an old opponent of Navneet Rana. He had also filed a petition in the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court regarding the issue of caste certificate. Speaking on camera, Adsul said, ‘Navneet Rana does not know but she is joining the well of death’. He said that BJP people are also against him in Amravati and he is facing strong opposition.

Adsul has gone to court against Rana

Adsul has represented Amravati seat between 2009 and 2019 but he had to face defeat from Navneet Rana in the last election. Since then he has been raising the issue of Navneet Rana getting a fake caste certificate made to contest elections from Amravati, which is a reserved seat. Bombay High Court had admitted that Navneet Rana’s certificate was fake. The matter is currently pending in the Supreme Court.

Adsul said that the only reason why he was selected by BJP is that someone in their top leadership has made it a prestige issue. He said that the Supreme Court’s decision in the caste certificate case is going to come against Navneet Rana.

‘Donkeys have no identity’

After joining BJP, Amravati MP Navneet Rana reached Mumbai to meet party leaders amid the beats of drums. On opposition from within the Mahayuti, including senior leaders like Adsul and Prahar Janshakti Party leader Bachchu Kadu, who are claiming that Navneet Rana will not win, the BJP candidate said, ‘Donkeys have no identity and no count. When a horse runs in the field, there is opposition.

He said, ‘People who are capable and work for the common people and women have to face opposition. Even Modi ji had to face this and such opposition has always been happening in politics. But being women we know how to deal with it.

Who is Navneet Rana?

Till now Navneet Rana was the current independent MP from Amravati, but now she has joined BJP. In 2019, he won as an independent candidate by defeating Shiv Sena’s Anandrao Adsul. She has been a supporter of BJP.

In April 2022, Mumbai Police had filed an FIR against Navneet Rana. She and her husband were arrested after they were warned for reciting Hanuman Chalisa outside the private residence of then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. He was accused of “creating enmity between different groups”.
