Mental Health: Corona Made Women More Mentally Ill Than Men

The outbreak of the corona pandemic has also taken a toll on mental health. The situation is that this time the number of mental patients has increased by 500% compared to the last two years, but this condition is more serious in women than in men. The situation is that the second wave has affected the mental health of women more than 200 percent from the years 2019 and 2020. According to doctors, along with stress, anxiety, restlessness and more anger, irritability is being seen more in women.

Dr. Diksha Advani of Fortis Hospital says that after the closure of work from home and school, where a duodenum finds it difficult to take care of the family. At the same time, this challenge is even more difficult for the employed women because they have to take care of the husband, children, other family members along with the job. The situation is that most of the women are not even able to share their problems. They live in anxiety and anger inside.

According to the recent SDG 3.0 report of NITI Aayog, despite having women candidates in 8.46 percent of the assembly seats in India, 62 women out of one lakh have criminal cases against them. At the same time, 20 women have filed cases of physical torture, brutal atrocities by their relatives.

Dr. Diksha Advani tells that every day five to six women are coming to her for counseling. This situation is not the same as before. Before the Corona era, only one or two such cases used to come every day. While not a single patient used to come for about 10 to 12 days in a month, but since September last year, the number of women in their place has increased significantly. The serious thing is that most of the women are not able to express their views openly.

Patients of all age groups are coming in front
Dr. Harish Shetty of Mumbai told that problems related to mental health are being seen in every age group. Both men and women are coming to the hospital due to mentally disturbed but the condition of women is more serious as they are not comfortable in expressing their mind.
