A day after high drama unfolded in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana over the arrest of Tajinder Bagga, a Mohali court on Saturday issued an arrest warrant against the BJP leader.
Tajinder Bagga has been charged under 153A, 505, 505(2), and 506 sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The Judicial Magistrate has asked the Cyber Crime Branch of Mohali to arrest Tajinder Bagga and produce him before the court.
Reacting to the arrest warrant, Tajinder Bagga’s father, Pritpal Singh Bagga, said that they are ready to face anything.
Speaking to India Today, Pritpal Singh Bagga said, “Yes, the arrest warrant has been issued against Tajinder Bagga. We have been told that Mohali Police has left for Delhi and could possibly reach the next 2-3 hours.”
He added that Tajinder Bagga is presently with his lawyer.
3 states, 1 arrest: Drama over Tajinder Bagga’s arrest
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) national secretary Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, 36, was arrested from his home in Janakpuri, Delhi by the Punjab Police on Friday morning on charges of making provocative statements, promoting enmity and criminal intimidation. The case was registered on the complaint of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sunny Singh Ahluwalia, a resident of Mohali.
As the Punjab Police left with Bagga, the Delhi Police sprung into action, registering a case of abduction against their Punjab counterparts at the Janakpuri police station. Soon, the Haryana Police too entered the scene. The crime branch of Kurukshetra intercepted the Punjab Police’s convoy that was escorting Bagga to Mohali near the Khanpur Kolia National Highway-GT Road crossing and took them in for questioning.
The Delhi Police then took over the custody of the BJP leader and brought him back to the national capital. After bringing him back to the city, Tajinder Bagga was produced before a magistrate late on Friday.
Political slugfest over Bagga’s arrest
Tajinder Bagga’s arrest sparked a political slugfest between the BJP and the AAP, the ruling party in Punjab. the saffron party accused Punjab Police of “abducting” its leaderwho has been vocal in his criticism of Arvind Kejriwal, and accused the AAP chief of pursuing vendetta through the state police.

The AAP rejected the charge and said the BJP leader was arrested for allegedly stoking communal tensions in Punjab.
