Lawyers argued for bail
Sadhu Kalicharan Maharaj’s lawyers Pappu Shriram Morwal and Samridhi Dhavan Patil argued for his bail that the incidents for which Kalicharan Maharaj was arrested took place in Raipur and Pune and not Thane. Hence, there is no need to keep him in Thane jail.
Earlier, on December 26 last year, Kalicharan Maharaj was arrested by Raipur Police for his alleged derogatory remarks against Mahatma Gandhi at an event held in Chhattisgarh capital Raipur. After this, on January 12, Wardha Police of Maharashtra arrested him in a similar case.

This event was celebrated to commemorate the killing of Adilshahi’s commander Afzal Khan by Shivaji Maharaj in 1659. However, a court in Pune granted bail to Kalicharan Maharaj after which he was sent to Raipur jail. Wardha police arrested Maharaj from Raipur by submitting a production warrant.
