Balod. To win the war against Corona, arrangements were made for the final investigation of Corona by the government at the district level itself. The RTPCR lab set up at the district headquarters for corona testing has started, but even after installing the lab, Balod district is not able to become self-sufficient in the investigation of corona.
Still samples are being sent to Rajnandgaon Lab for testing. Only 200 tests are being done daily in the local lab. While 300 samples are being taken daily according to the target met by ICMR, but only 200 samples are being tested. The testing of the remaining 100 samples is still in the hands of Rajnandgaon. Meaning the lab is operational, but despite this, samples are being sent out for corona examination. Not all samples are being tested here.
RTPCR investigation still dependent on other district
After the arrival of the new variant Omicron in India, the state government is taking vigil to control its spread. Due to the increasing cases of infection by the government, emphasis is being given on testing, tracing and vaccination. On the other hand, even after a month has passed since the construction of Virology Lab at a cost of crores in Balod district, the capacity of the lab is still not being fully utilized. The district hospital is still relying on another district for the investigation of RTPCR.
33 percent sample of target is being sent to Rajnandgaon
In the district, there were 1200 to 1500 tests of corona daily, which are done with antigens. In these, samples of suspects were sent to Rajnandgaon for RTPCR test. To get relief from this problem, a modern RTPCR lab has been built in the district hospital at a cost of crores. After the start of the lab, big bets were made that no type of sample would have to be sent to Rajnandgaon for testing. Despite this, about 75 percent of the tests in the district are still being done with antigen and TrueNat. Apart from this, 33 percent samples of the target are being sent to Rajnandgaon for RTPCR test.
Testing of samples of only two blocks, investigation of the remaining three blocks out here
According to the information, samples of two blocks of the district are tested in the RTPCR lab set up in the district hospital. Samples of the remaining three blocks are being sent to Rajnandgaon for testing. Testing of samples from Balod block, Daundi block and district hospital is being done in RTPCR of Balod, but the testing of samples of Gurur, Gundardehi and Daundilohara blocks is dependent on Rajnandgaon RTPCR. So far, about 2057 samples have been tested in about a month after the start of the lab. In which 121 positive and 1905 samples have come negative.
Testing of more samples daily with antigen kit
For RT-PCR test in 5 blocks Balod, Gurur, Gundardehi, Daundi and Daundilohara of the district, a target has been set to collect 300 samples from lab, 1424 from antigen, 60 samples from TrueNat machine. On the spot, samples of 1424 people have been asked to be tested with ART kit so that it can be known immediately whether the report of the concerned is positive or negative.
The responsible were seen throwing the ball in each other’s court.
Despite being a lab, when the responsibilities were talked about sending Rajnandgaon samples for RTPCR test, they were seen throwing the ball in each other’s court. On the question of utilization of the capacity of the lab, both the in-charge of the lab and the civil surgeon were seen avoiding. The in-charge of the lab says that the idea is with the civil surgeon, so the civil surgeon also did not take the time to put the ball in the lab in-charge and said that I will take information from him and then I will tell.
