So far 252 people have died in Delhi due to black fungus among corona infected patients. The condition of more than 900 patients is still said to be critical. According to government reports, black fungus is 13 times more deadly than corona infection. So there is a need to be cautious.

According to the information received from the Health Department on Wednesday, the government report prepared about the black fungus has confirmed the death of 252 people. Earlier, the Delhi government had informed about the death of 89 people due to black fungus. According to the report, black fungus has been confirmed in 1734 patients so far in Delhi. Out of these, 519 patients have become healthy, out of which more than 300 patients had to undergo eye or nose surgery. 252 patients succumbed during treatment. Still 928 patients are being treated in government and private hospitals of Delhi.

The report also states that 35 patients of black fungus admitted to hospitals in Delhi refused treatment. These people also refused to accept medical advice, due to which they have been kept in the category of Lama. However, whether this patient is currently under treatment or not, it is not known in the government report.

A senior health department official said that so far 1.74 percent of patients have died due to corona infection in Delhi, but 14.53 percent of black fungus patients have died. This shows that black fungus is quite deadly in corona infected patients or recovered people. To avoid this, the infected patient and other people should be careful.

The first patients in the country were found in Delhi
Black fungus was first confirmed in Corona patients in Delhi last year. In November 2020, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital had reported receiving 10 such cases, out of which five patients died hours after being admitted to the hospital. After this, fewer cases of black fungus were reported, but after passing the peak of the second wave, there was a sudden increase in these cases in June.

Black fungus spreads rapidly in the body
Dr. Vikas of Delhi AIIMS said that apart from black fungus, other types of fungus are also being found in corona infected and cured people. This fungus spreads so fast in the body that doctors had to remove the patient’s eye. Many patients were also found whose fungus was identified in the intestine, stomach and other parts. Apart from black, cases of yellow, pink and red fungus have been reported in Delhi so far.
