Six tiger sanctuaries in Madhya Pradesh, including the famous Kanha Tiger Reserve, have been closed for three months for tourists from July 1 due to the rainy season. The Principal Chief Conservator (Wildlife) of Madhya Pradesh Forest Department, Alok Kumar said on Thursday that now these will open for tourists from October 1. He said that the buffer areas of these sanctuaries would be open for tourism activities.

Alok Kumar said that during the rainy season, tiger reserves are closed for tourists due to various reasons. The most important reason in this is that this time is the breeding time of tigers. Also, due to the rains, the sanctuaries are not accessible for vehicular movement. Along with this, other infrastructure including pasture for animals is also developed there during this period.

It is to be known that according to the census of the year 2018, Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of 526 tigers in the country. There are six tiger reserves in the state including Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Pench, Satpura, Sanjay Dubri and Panna, which remain closed every year during the monsoon season.

Amidst the onset of monsoon, the average rainfall in Rajasthan in the month of June may have been above normal, but many districts of the state were deprived of it. Rainfall was below normal in 19 out of 33 districts of the state during this period. According to the Meteorological Center Jaipur, from June 1 to June 30, the state received a total of 53.1 mm (mm) of rain, which is six per cent more than the 50.1 mm rainfall during this period. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of heat wave at isolated places in the districts of Bikaner, Bharatpur and Kota divisions during the next 48 hours.

According to the Meteorological Center, during this period, rains were not normal in many districts of the state, especially in East Rajasthan. The actual rainfall in East Rajasthan was 56.7 mm as against the normal 66.7 mm, showing a deficit of 15 per cent. The funny thing is that in western Rajasthan, where there is relatively little rain during this period, the weather has been good this time. Western Rajasthan comprising districts like Jaisalmer, Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Churu received 50.2 mm of rain, which is about 36 percent more than the normal rainfall of 36.9 mm.

According to Radheshyam Sharma, director of the Meteorological Center, the weather will be mainly dry in most parts of the state for the next four to five days because the monsoon, which knocked in Rajasthan about two weeks ago, has remained in one place for the last 11 days and it is expected to move further for five to six days. is unlikely. He said that the Northern Limit of Monsoon is passing through Barmer, Bhilwara and Dholpur on Thursday as well, i.e. it is stable for the last 11 days. Also, the conditions are not favorable for further advance of Monsoon into the state for the next five to six days.
