The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday searched a south Mumbai hotel in connection with the recovery of an SUV with explosives near the home of industrialist Mukesh Ambani and the death of industrialist Mansukh Hiren. Officials said that a team of NIA reached a hotel in the ‘Soni Building’ near Babulnath Temple at around one o’clock in the afternoon.

Officials said that the people and employees present at the hotel were asked to vacate the premises and the search is still on. The investigating agency had recently brought suspended Mumbai Police officer Sachin Waje to Babulnath area in connection with his investigation in the case. Waje had come under the scanner of the NIA after the gelatin sticks were recovered from an SUV near Ambani’s house.

Waje was arrested on 13 March. Waje was suspended after being arrested by the NIA. The NIA on Wednesday claimed that the gelatin sticks found in a vehicle near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani were procured by Sachin Waje, a Mumbai Police suspended officer.
