The election bugle has been sounded in West Bengal. There will be eight phase elections in the state, which will start from March 27. The future of the state’s politics will be decided on 2 May. Meanwhile, the ADR has released an account of the current MLAs of Bengal, under which 104 current MLAs are tainted in Bengal. Among them, 68 MLAs belong to Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress. According to the ADR report, out of the 282 MLAs of West Bengal, 37 percent i.e. a total of 104 MLAs are tainted. A total of 90 MLAs have declared serious criminal cases against themselves, while seven MLAs have reported cases related to murder. In addition, 24 MLAs have been charged with attempt to murder. Let us tell you that 68 of the 205 MLAs of the Trinamool Congress are tainted, while 20 of the 39 MLAs of the Congress, 11 out of 24 of the CPIM and three of the six of the BJP have criminal cases against them.

It is worth noting that out of 282 MLAs of West Bengal, a total of 97 current MLAs are crorepatis, of which TMC MLAs are 78. At the same time, 13 of Congress, CPIM and two each of BJP have shown their movable and immovable property in crores. Let us tell you that the average assets of TMC’s 205 MLAs is 1.79 crores, while the average assets of 39 Congress MLAs is 78.3 lakhs. The CPIM’s 24 MLAs declared 43.4 lakh, the six BJP MLAs declared their average assets at 1.32 crore.

Talking about the richest MLAs of the state, TMC MLA Sameer Chakraborty leads the list. Sameer, MLA from Taladangra seat in Bankura district, has total assets of more than Rs 40 crore. It has movable assets of Rs 28.91 crore and fixed assets of Rs 11.68 crore. The second is TMC MLA Zakir Hussain from Jangipur seat in Murshidabad district. His total assets are more than Rs 28 crores, with movable assets of 17.27 crores and immovable assets of 10.77 crores. TMC MLA Javed Ahmed Khan from Kasba seat of South 24 Parganas is third in this list. His total assets are more than 17 crores, including movable assets of 14.02 crores and immovable assets of 3.27 crores.

In the ADR report, the information about the richest MLAs has been given, while the MLAs with the least wealth have also been mentioned. At the top of this list is CPIM MLA SK Ibrahim Ali from Panskura East seat in Medinipur East district. In 2016, he declared his total assets at just Rs 49 thousand 730. The second is TMC MLA Pundarikaksh Saha from Nabadwip seat in Nadia district. He had declared total assets of 75 thousand 423 rupees. Ajit Rai is third in the list from Sonamukhi (SC) seat in Bankura district. He had declared total assets of Rs 1.24 lakh.
