Uttar Pradesh ATS has arrested two Rohingyas from Unnao and Aligarh on Monday. Police had received information that a gang of Rohingyas resident in Myanmar illegally brought the Rohingyas from Bangladesh border to India and registered them with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to arrange for their lodging and work in several cities of the country is.

The gang then prepares their fake Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, passports, etc. and makes them work in factories as Indian citizens. In return, the gang extort money from them.

In the initial inquiry, Farooq alias Hasan Ahmed had said that I am a Rohingya from Myanmar and live in India based on fake documents. Apart from me, my brother Shahid lives in Unnao. My mother Madina Khatoon also lives with me in Aligarh.

With this, Farooq admitted that he along with his brother Shahid illegally brought Rohingyas from Bangladesh border to India and after registering established them in places like Aligarh, Unnao, Mathura etc. They in turn raise money from them and are thus involved in human trafficking.
