Norwegian police said via tweet, landslides have hit many houses. For the safety of Norwegian citizens, the army is busy evacuating homes in times of emergency. The media said that the size of the landslide area was around 210,000 square meters and about 500 people were evacuated from their homes. According to reports, 20 people were missing.
“We do not know whether these people are trapped in the landslide area or not,” the police said in a statement. They are either on leave or unable to contact the police. According to police, 10 people were seriously injured after the landslide. Police is calling it a natural disaster. Chief of Operation Roger Peterson said the situation was very critical. People told over the phone that their entire house was collapsing. In a social media post, Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Sölberg expressed her sympathy for the people, saying that one feels pain after seeing how the forces of nature have destroyed the gazerdom. Natural phenomena like landslides affect everyone.
