Jammu. Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Sunday that it had arrested three terrorists belonging to Pakistan and recovered six grenades from them, thwarting the plot to attack a temple in the border Poonch district. Senior Superintendent of Police of Poonch, Ramesh Kumar Angral, said that the arrested people were plotting to attack a temple at the behest of the Pakistani mentor with the intention of disturbing peace and community harmony in the district. He told journalists in Poonch that the conspiracy was discovered when the Vishal Abhiyan Group (SOG) of the local police teamed up with 49 National Rifle personnel along with two brothers during a vehicle search near Basuni in Mendhar sector at around 8 pm on Saturday night. Mustafa Iqbal and Murtaza Iqbal detained. Both are residents of Galhuta village.
Instructions were given to attack grenade on the phone from Pakistani number
The officer said he was interrogated at the battalion headquarters of 49 National Rifles in Basuni and during interrogation it was found that Mustafa received a call from a Pakistani number and was instructed to carry out a grenade attack. “On strict interrogation, he confessed that he had been tasked to throw a grenade at a temple in the village of Ari.” A video was found in his mobile detailing how to use the grenade. “The Superintendent of Police said that it was also revealed that Mustafa was involved in terrorist activities and on the basis of his confession, the Dabbi of Balakote near the Line of Control. Two of his companions – Mohammad Yasin and Rais Ahmed were also arrested from the village.
3 arrested terrorists are being interrogated
Another police officer said that the three were later arrested while Murtuja Iqbal is in custody and is being interrogated.
