The Delhi High Court on Thursday suggested the Delhi government to give the public a little more time to apply color-coded fuel stickers to the vehicles before imposing a fine of Rs 5500 for violating the rules.
A division bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Talwant Singh said that the Delhi government should not create a furore among the people, which some people may take advantage of. The court also said that the way the government advertised for color coded stickers and HSRP in August was also not the right time.
The court said these things while hearing the PIL of Delhi Congress President Anil Kumar. Anil Chaudhary has alleged in his petition that OEMS is taking more money from the people for stickers and HSRP has also been made mandatory in the capital.
Anil Kumar’s lawyer Sunil Fernandes said in the court that the Delhi government’s challan campaign has created an atmosphere of fear among those who do not have color coded stickers and HSRP plates on their vehicles so that they do not have to pay the fine.
Delhi government lawyer Satyakam told the court that the government had nothing to do with fixing the sticker and the SSRP rate, the government just wanted to ensure that the Supreme Court order is followed in which all these vehicles are on It has been said that things should be planted. In his PIL, Anil Chaudhary has also requested the court to order the Delhi government to charge Rs 12.15 for the color coded sticker, which is allowed. Anil Chaudhary says that he wants to bring to the notice of the court that with the help of color-coded stickers, the AAP government can scam 350 crores, so it should be stopped by ordering immediately.
He says that the sticker that should be found for Rs 12.15 is being forcibly sold for Rs 141.60, which is more than ten times the actual price. He wants the court to take cognizance of this and direct the government to sell the sticker at a fixed price.
