Aaya Ram Gaya Ram Culture Emerged Prominently Before Elections in West Bengal – ‘Ayaram Gayaram’ phase reached peak before elections in West BengalOn December 24, 2020 by admin
Till a decade ago, the leaders of the state were seen to ridicule the party-changer. However, ever since the Trinamool Congress came to power in 2011, many leaders of the Congress and the Left have joined the Trinamool to participate in the development process initiated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Now, as the Trinamool Congress leaders are leaving the party and joining the BJP, the ruling party has to taste its own bitter medicine. Since last year’s Lok Sabha elections, 15 other Trinamool MLAs and MPs have joined BJP, including the strongman Subhendu Adhikari.
During the rally of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Medinipur on Saturday, 34 other leaders including former minister officer in the state government had joined the BJP, causing a major setback to the Trinamool in a single day.
In response, Sujatha Mandal Khan, the state president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and wife of Vishupur MP Soumitra Khan, left the BJP and joined the Trinamool on Monday.
Bimal Gurung of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, who has supported BJP in Darjeeling for a decade, has decided to support Trinamool Congress in the upcoming elections. On condition of anonymity, a senior Trinamool Congress leader said that the party should not have promoted the culture of ‘Ayaram Gayaram’.
He said, it was wrong for our party to include a lot of MLAs from Congress and Left parties. That was immoral politics and we should not have done it. Sometimes to increase your support base you have to take decisions that affect you in the future.
In a state like West Bengal where the leader was identified with ideology, leaving the party was rare. According to Trinamool and BJP sources, more leaders from both parties will be seen to be changing. Although the Trinamool says that the MLAs who left the party are traitors, opposition parties and politics experts believe that the Trinamool has reaped what it sowed.
Political analyst Suman Bhattacharya said, Trinamool is getting its own bitter medicine. Just as it rejected the mandate and included the MLAs without resigning, the same is happening with the Trinamool today.
Although a section of the Trinamool agrees, party MP Sukhendu Shekhar Roy said that there is no party that is free from the culture of ‘Ayaram Gayaram’. He said that this is the reality of India’s politics.
He also accused the BJP of threatening Trinamool MPs. Making fun of the TMC’s culture of changing the party, BJP state president Dilip Ghosh said that the Trinamool should not impart knowledge on it.
He said, Trinamool will be the last party to talk about changing party culture. In the last 10 years, Trinamool has used more than 40 MLAs in its court using money and muscle power. Is this done democratically? Trinamool will have to answer it first, then give us knowledge. Opposition Congress and Left parties have accused the Trinamool of bringing a culture of change in the state.
