The government on Sunday revoked the license of 50 pilots flying through fake licenses. He also ordered the officers to investigate how these people improperly obtained licenses. The country’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has informed the court about this.
After the tragic accident of Pakistan International Airlines plane in Karachi on 22 May, this case of fake license came before the government. 97 people died in this accident. After the incident, Pakistan’s aviation minister Sarwar Khan told the media that out of the 860 active pilots in the country, the licenses of 260 are either fake or they have made these licenses by copying them in the examination.
The names of other pilots were made public along with pilots working outside Pakistan, so as to avoid any negative perception. According to the Dawn newspaper, officials told the Islamabad High Court that under the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization, they have reviewed the licenses of 860 commercial pilots and revoked the licenses of 50 of them after extensive investigation.
According to the report, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been given the task of proceeding with the investigation against the pilots who have succeeded in obtaining licenses through unfair means. A CAA report states that the process of verification of 259 licenses has been completed.
On July 6, following the due process, a summary of the license revocation of 28 pilots was presented to the federal cabinet, which approved it the next day. On 11 September, another summary of the cancellation of licenses of 22 other pilots was presented to the cabinet, which it approved 15.
