A group of 60 MPs in the US have requested newly elected President Joe Biden to change a policy of the Donald Trump administration regarding visas. The lawmakers have requested to extend the time limit of the validity of the document for people with H-4 visas. If the newly elected President of the United States, which accepts the request of the Biden MPs, increases the validity of the documents of the people receiving H-4 visas, then it will provide relief to thousands of Indians. H-4 visas are issued to the spouse of H-1B visa holders. H-4 visa holders mostly consist of high-skill Indian women.

The H-4 visa is issued by the US Department of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to family members (spouse and children under 21) of H-1B visa holders. H-1B visa holders are mostly Indian IT professionals. It is usually issued to those who wish to achieve permanent resident status on employment basis.

Instructions to publish federal register notice
Members of the US House of Representatives wrote a letter to Biden on 16 December, “We urge you to direct the Department of Home Security to publish a Federal Register notice regarding the expiring validity of the H-4 visa on the first day of your administration.” Go.

Democrat Biden will take the oath of office of the US President on 20 January. The letter said that the Home Security Department had issued a rule in 2015 allowing a dependent spouse of H-1B visa holders.

Biden can improve this
Biden can increase the range of other high-skill visas, including H-1B. In addition, he can abolish the quota for employment-based visas for different countries. It is believed that both these steps will benefit thousands of Indian professionals. Indian professionals were badly affected by some immigration policies of the Donald Trump administration. Biden is also believed to overturn the Trump administration’s decision to revoke the work visa permit for the spouse of H-1B visa holders. Indian families living in American were affected by this decision of the Trump administration. The Biden administration plans to work on a major immigration reform. The administration will implement these reforms outright or in pieces.
