new Delhi. Indian Oil Corporation, the largest oil marketing company in the country, has increased the price of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder by Rs 50 without informing once again. Earlier on December 2, the company had secretly increased the price of LPG LPG by Rs 50. In the first 15 days of December, the price of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder has increased by Rs 100.

Usually companies revise the prices of LPG on the first date of every month and make their information public. But something different happened this time. On December 1, the IOC stated that there has been no increase in the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder and its price in Delhi has been kept constant for the seventh consecutive month at Rs 594. But after 8 days, the price of 14.2 kg non-subsidized LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 50 to Rs 644 in Delhi on IndianOil website.

Now on December 15, the price of LPG cylinder is still shown in the metropolis on Indian Oil website, but when you go to check the price of LPG cylinder in your city, then you will see the price of cylinder increased by 50 rupees.

Subsidies were not paid in May and June

In May and June, no subsidy was deposited by the government in the account of consumers purchasing LPG cylinders. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated the reason behind this, that due to the fall in the prices of LPG gas cylinders from May 2020, there was no part of subsidy in their price. Therefore, no subsidy for LPG cylinders supplied in the months of May, 2020 and June 2020 has been transferred directly to the consumer’s bank accounts.

Prices were on the sky in February

The price of LPG cylinder in Delhi was Rs 858.50 in February, which was reduced to Rs 805.50 in March. In May, the price of LPG cylinder dropped from Rs 744 to 581.50 per liter. On July 1, petroleum companies increased the price of 14.2 kg non-subsidized LPG cylinders by Rs 1.

LPG cylinders are being sold at market prices in India, but the government pays subsidy directly into bank accounts of eligible consumers. The government provides subsidy as the difference between the market price and the price of the subsidized cylinder. There is a provision to provide 12 LPG cylinders per year at subsidized price to each family. After this cylinder has to be purchased at market price.
