It was said that this is a conspiracy to destabilize the Narendra Modi government at the Center. But in the fifth round of talks between the Center and the farmers on Saturday, the stance of the ministers of the Modi government appeared to have changed completely.
The ministers congratulated the farmers on the peaceful agitation between the talks. The ministers also agreed that their movement is not sponsored by the opposition. This changed attitude of the Center also surprised the farmer leaders themselves. The question is, why did this change in the attitude of the Center?
Farmer leader Kavita Kuruganti, present at this meeting between farmers and the government, told Amar Ujala that the ministers of the government expressed happiness over the non-violent agitation of the entire movement and congratulated the farmers leaders for this.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said during the meeting that his movement has been completely peaceful and non-political till now. He later took the same stand in front of the media. It is clear that the government is understanding the loss caused by its mistake and now wants to control the damage by going to the backfoot.
It is believed that the image of the government was being severely damaged due to the social media calling the farmer movement as Khalistan and Congress sponsored. According to a senior BJP leader, people were seeing these comments directly linked to the Prime Minister and the BJP.
That is why the meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior ministers on Saturday gave strict instructions to stay away from any such dispute.
This is the reason why Narendra Singh Tomar first described the movement as peaceful in the farmers’ meeting and later in the media. The aim was to win over the farmers. At the same time, the government also wants to put an end to the discussions in which the movement was being linked to Khalistan and Opposition.
Government’s attempt failed
Senior leader of All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee Avik Shah told Amar Ujala that a lot of efforts were made to make this peasant movement violent. Water was spilled on the farmers, tear gas shells were released on them. Pits were dug in their way. The purpose of all this was that the farmers should come out on the violence and on the pretext of this, the government should get the opportunity to use force on the farmers.
According to Avik Shah, but we were fully aware of this plot. The peasants had decided that no matter how much they were attacked, they would not be violent. This is the reason that the farmers did not commit any violence and only after the use of mild force, the government started to get discredited. Understanding the comments of people on social media, he now had to take a defensive stance.
