Maharashtra Solapur Ranjit Sinh Disale Won Global Teacher Prize Girls Education Bhagat Koshyari Fund Good Work

A primary teacher of Solapur Zilla Parishad School in Maharashtra has won a reward of seven crore rupees. The name of this teacher is Ranjit Singh Disley. He has received this huge amount in reward for being elected a global teacher. This is the first time an Indian has got the honor of being the best teacher in the world.

The Global Teachers Award, announced by UNESCO and the London-based Warkey Foundation, was announced on Thursday 3 December. The award-winning Disley teaches at Paritwadi Zilla Parishad School in Solapur district. The winner was announced by renowned film actor Stephen Frye at a ceremony held at the Natural History Museum in London.

More than 12 thousand teachers from 140 countries took part in this competition. Ranjit Singh received the award for his efforts to promote girls’ education and accelerate the quick-response (QR) coded textbook revolution in India.

The award was established in 2014 by the Warky Foundation. For this, 10 participants were selected from all over the world. This award is given to an exceptional teacher who has made outstanding contribution in his field of teaching. Disley has been congratulated by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on this achievement.

On the other hand, Disley has announced to share 50 percent of the prize money with nine other teachers who have reached the last round. He said that the remaining 50 percent will be used to create a fund which will be used to help teachers who are doing good work. The event was held virtually in view of Corona.
