Britain’s Drug and Health Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said that the joint Corona vaccine of American pharmaceutical company Pfizer and German company BioNotech was approved on Wednesday. The agency said the vaccine is safe to use.
The company claimed that the vaccine was effective at up to 95 percent for the prevention of corona virus and that its vaccine was effective on people of all ages, races during testing. The UK government had asked MHRA to examine the data provided by the company to see if it met all standards in terms of quality, safety and effectiveness.
The UK is expected to receive 40 million doses of the drug by the end of 2021. Such a dose can cause vaccination of one third of the population of the country. Britain’s Health Minister Matt Hancock said last month that the National Health Service (NHS) is ready to be vaccinated if it receives regulatory approval. The NHS has extensive vaccination experience and has all systems in place. The vaccine will be produced at Bioentech’s Germany-based centers as well as Pfizer’s Belgium-based unit.
