Highlights:
- Sixth day of demonstration by farmers’ organizations against three central agricultural laws
- Farmers gathered at all entry points in Delhi, adamant on persuading demands
- Farmers on the Ghazipur border wrote a line – section 144 and section 288
There is a tussle between the farmers and the police administration on the Delhi border. Meanwhile, there is a very interesting view in Ghazipur where farmers have drawn a line, writing section 144 on one side and section 288 on the other side. Farmers say that if the police uses Section 144 to stop farmers from gathering, then we will also double Section 288.
If police impose section 144, then we will impose section 288: Rakesh Tikait
Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait said that a large number of farmers are coming from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. He said, ‘Till the government does not change the law by talking to us, we will stand here. It is expected that more groups of farmers will arrive here in the next few days. If the police impose section 144 then we will impose section 288. We will demonstrate on this side of the barricade and the police will not be able to come here. ‘
Every street going to Delhi – every road will be a block!
Meanwhile, BKU vice-president Rajveer Singh said that he is waiting for December 3, the day the government is to hold talks. “But if the government does not negotiate, then we will block every lane of NH 24, Eastern Peripheral Expressway and all other important highways,” he said. Other farmers organizations will chalk up every road going to Delhi.

Sixth day of performance
Indeed, the farmers’ protest against the three central agricultural laws has entered the sixth day. On the fifth day several farmers’ organizations reached UP Gate from several areas of Baghpat and Uttarakhand. The protesters are intent on entering the Delhi border, but their efforts are being thwarted every time due to the heavy police force.
Four tier barricade at Ghazipur border
Delhi Police has beefed up security at the Ghazipur border and barricaded four layers. Some barricades of cement were also installed so that the farmers could not move them away. A senior Delhi Police officer said that more than 300 police forces have been deployed only along the Ghazipur border. He said, ‘They (protesters) break barricades every second-third hour and try to enter the capital. But we are sending them back every time. ‘
Meaning of section 288
However, the farmer leader talked about the use of section 288 in the sense that the protesters have twice the strength than the police. Under section 144, the administration has the right to prevent crowd from anywhere. In the area in which section 144 is announced, more than three persons are allowed to gather together. There is a provision for legal action against those gathered for violating it.
