Earlier, in view of the increasing cases of Corona, the Delhi government had prepared a proposal that only 50 percent of the staff should be called to office to maintain social distancing. The remaining 50 per cent of the employees work from home while till now all the government staff office was coming. The proposal was based on a guideline issued on 25 November by the Union Home Ministry, under which it was asked to work with limited staff in government offices. This proposal of the government was approved by the Lt. Governor late Saturday. The new system will be implemented in government offices from Monday.
Under the new rules, the work from home has been provided to the rest of the staff except grade-one and higher officers of Delhi government. Department heads will ensure that only 50 percent of the staff is called to the office. However, employees engaged in essential services are excluded from its purview. Under this, essential services like health, sanitation, water supply, police, electricity, disaster management, civil defense, home guard will not get any relaxation in the new rules whereas this rule will be applicable in government offices, autonomous institutions, PSUs, corporations, local bodies. The new system will remain in force till 31 December. If there is some change in the situation, the government will issue a new order.
Work from home advice to private employers
The Delhi government has advised private employers to call their staff in offices keeping in mind the physical distance. For this, he can promote the work culture of Work from Home. Employees should be allowed to work from home as far as possible. The Delhi government believes that social distancing should be implemented in private offices under any circumstances.
