Congress MLA Masood got a major relief from the Jabalpur High Court on Friday. The court has approved his anticipatory bail. He filed an anticipatory bail plea in the court against being made an accused under Section 153A of the IPC and Section 438 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The court had on November 25 reserved the verdict after hearing the petition.
It was argued in the court on behalf of the Congress MLA that on October 29, the police had registered an FIR for violation of the Collector order. After this, on November 4, the government intentionally lodged an FIR against him for the inflammatory speech. During the hearing, the government had said in the court that 29 cases have been registered against Masood so far. He has provoked religious sentiments through his speech in Bhopal.
Masood had approached the High Court for anticipatory bail to avoid arrest after a case was registered for inflammatory speech. During the last hearing, the court had summoned the case diary. The case was heard by the Division Bench of the acting Chief Justice.
