A Delhi court on Tuesday accepted a new charge sheet by police against Jawaharlal Nehru University alumnus Umar Khalid in connection with the violence in north-east Delhi.

After considering the charge sheet, the court said that there was sufficient material against Khalid, Imam and Faizan Khan to pursue the case under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Delhi Police’s Special Cell had registered a case against them under stringent legal provisions.

The Delhi Police on Sunday filed a supplementary charge sheet against Khalid and the Imam in the violence case that took place between 24 and 26 February in north-east Delhi. The police have arrested both.

According to the police, the present case is related to multi-level conspiracy and pre-planned riots in Delhi.
