Jawaharlal Nehru University held its fourth annual convocation on Wednesday, November 18. In which more than 600 students were awarded PhD degrees. The convocation was held in a virtual manner in view of the Corona epidemic. President Ram Nath Kovind attended and addressed the convocation through video conferencing.
President Ramnath Kovind said that I appreciate everyone associated with JNU that he is in a high position in different academic domains from social science to technology. This teaching and research has made an impact in the world of academics.
In context of holistic education I’m told that JNU is taking steps to establish centres in new fields of study aiming to provide skill development & employability of youth. The President further said that India has a unique tradition of culture of Guru Shishya tradition. In this culture, first education, then initiation and then convocation and finally Guru Dakshina comes in number. I would like to request all of you students that if your mind shows a sense of giving Guru Dakshana to your gurus, then you should definitely give education and knowledge. Also strengthen the nation with your capabilities.

While addressing the convocation, he further said that wherever you go, stay connected with your roots. There should be a clear impression of Indian values in your field. Continue to update yourself, upgrade and educate yourself, otherwise the danger of being outdated is always there.

He further said that in the context of holistic education I have been told that JNU is taking steps to establish centers in new fields of study with the aim of providing skill development and employment to the youth.
