Security forces in Jammu have demolished a large plan of terrorists on Thursday. The terrorists who were going to hide in the truck with the intention of spreading terror in the valley have been killed. The video of the encounter between the security forces and the terrorists has also been revealed. A senior police official said that the four militants killed in the encounter were heading towards the Kashmir Valley to influence the District Development Council (DDC) elections to be held later this month. He said that Pakistan is trying to create trouble in our political work.
All four suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed militants were killed in an encounter on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near the toll plaza in Banota area of Nagrota. Kashmir Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar told reporters that for the last few days Pakistan has stepped up efforts to infiltrate the militants in this direction and disrupt the upcoming elections. For this, the Jammu police and security forces have done a good job by killing four Pakistanis (terrorists). His objective was to come to Kashmir to influence the election process. The IGP said that we feared that the terrorists were trying to influence the elections, but the security forces were fully prepared to deal with the situation.
He said that whether there is an election, 15 August or 26 January or even an important person is coming, there is always a possibility of an attack by terrorists, but we are fully prepared. We are providing security to the candidates. They have started going to the polls for campaigning since yesterday. There is nothing to fear.
The Inspector General of Police said though it was difficult to provide security to every candidate who contested the election starting on 28 November. When asked whether the candidates were alleging that they had not been provided security, he said it was difficult to provide security to each candidate. We are providing them collective security and they are being kept in safe areas. Whenever a candidate goes out for campaigning, we provide double protection with him and secure the field for him to campaign.
When asked about the number of terrorists who were looking for infiltration from across the Line of Control (LoC), the IGP said that it was reported that around 250 militants were present there, but to thwart Pakistan’s plans Security forces are alert When asked about the grenade attack on Wednesday in Kakapora area of Pulwama district of South Kashmir, Kumar said that the police have identified the terrorist responsible for the incident.
